A Family Tribute.
Isidro Ancheta (1882 – 1946) was a Filipino landscape painter. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Ateneo de Manila in 1904. He also studied at the Liceo de Manila, Escuela de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado and the Academia de Dibujo y Pintura run by Teodoro Buenaventura in the early 1900s. He was represented with 8 paintings in the Philippine Section of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, where his painting titled 'A Victim of War' received an Honorable Mention. His ‘Tienda del Barrio’ won awards in the Filipiniana Category at the Philippine National Art Competition. He shared his craft and taught as a professor at the Philippine Normal School. His landscapes were found in the classrooms all over the Philippines. Sadly, all his work were taken from his home during World War II. Today, his work is housed under numerous private collections all of over the world.
